Leadership in Public Service
Patrick Moran Public Service

In 2013, Patrick Moran, PMP, founded Fitizen, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit designed to empower a new generation of holistic fitness leaders by providing a body of knowledge crowd-sourced from expert coaches, trainers, and community leaders to better develop the well-being of their mind, body, and community. Additionally, Pat works to tie fitness and community service through innovative campaigns that get new people excited about helping their communities.

During Fitizen’s first pilot program in New Haven, CT, Pat coordinated the resurrection of a community garden that had been neglected and subsequently relegated into a trash heap. Patrick’s team brought together Yale Football players, Veterans that were participating in the Warrior-Scholar Project, and community members to build flower beds, remove weeds, and plant produce. Today, the English Street garden stands as a testament of what hard work and teamwork can accomplish when a coordinated plan is implemented.

In addition to his commitment to Fitizen, Patrick is supports several organizations, including Team Red, White, Blue (RWB), an organization committed to supporting American veterans; the Yale Club of Washington, D.C., through which he perennially takes part in Yale’s Day of Service to revitalize gardens and farms in Washington, D.C.; the Yale Football Association; the Old Town Civic Association; Partnership for a Healthier Alexandria; and, the Alexandria Medical Reserve Corps, part of the Virginia Department of Health. In all of these roles, Pat strives to make his community a stronger, happier, and healthier place to live.
